We would like to inform passengers and visitors of Sofia Airport that аs of 1 May 2022, parking prices will change at Sofia Airport’s two public car parks in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Details can be found here.

Level B1 of the public car parking at Terminal 2 is temporarily closed. The remaining parking levels are at your disposal. While we apologize for any inconvenience caused, we kindly ask you to observe the parking organization in place.

As of 1 May 2022 all COVID-19 related travel restrictions are lifted.

Information about travelling to different countries is published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

All scheduled flights arriving in the time range 8 pm–8 am will be served only at Terminal 2. This will facilitate faster processing of documents and the passing of passengers. There will be no change for flights landing on schedule before 8:00 at Terminal 1. They will not move to Terminal 2 to avoid the inconvenience of travelers and their meters and greeters. All business flights will be operated at Terminal 1.


Covid laboratories

For the convenience of travelers, COVID-19 testing laboratories have been set up in the public areas of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to issue the necessary travel health certificates.

The PCR test result is ready within 2 hours and the antigen test within 20 minutes. The services are available not only to arriving and departing passengers, but also to all citizens.

New appointments on key management positions


After new appointments, which are already a fact, the management team of SOF Connect – the operator of Sofia Airport, is fully accomplished and ready for action.

The newcomers to SOF Connect are: Anelia Dimova took the position of Chief Human Resources Officer. Her long-standing experience in the HR and transformations field speaks volumes and now people strategy, policy design and its implementation are her responsibilities.

The Master Plan for the airport development comes with the key person in charge of it – Lionnel Maugis, Technical Director. Being a French nationality, he is entrusted with responsibility of all technical and maintenance aspects of the project including capital expenses assessment and airport technologies delivery, whilst managing overall space allocation and real estate matters.

Among the latest SOF Connect appointments was that of Dimitar Bikov who Sofia Airport Head of Marketing and Business Development Officer is. His dedicated teamwork is to enrich the capital airport network and to bring a new strategic business opportunity in the scope.

A new member of the SOF Connect team is Pavlin Kodzahristov, who holds the position of Corporate Security Officer. With 27 years of experience in different positions within the Ministry of Interior, completed training at the United States Department of State Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, as well as the Chinese and Iranian National Police Schools, among others, Kodzahristov is a preferred choice in in the area of corporate security for many companies. PhD in Criminology, Senior Assistant Professor at the University of Rousse and lecturer at other universities in Bulgaria, at SOF Connect he will be responsible for identifying, assessing and risks prevention to ensure the stability of the company and ensure  its business continuity.

Finally, in the line of newcomers comes Rosen Bachvarov who joined the company with the ambitious goal to manage institutional and media relations while covering all aspects of corporate communications, including development of relevant strategy and its follow-up implementation. His position is Public Affairs and Communications Director. SOF Connect’s high expectations towards him are to enhance company public image and to streamline corporate communications policy.

Topping up all the senior management positions, these five persons joined to already fully matured and well-functioning international team of well recognized professionals. Staring up with Jesus Caballero – CEO of Sofia Airport, who already has an extensive experience of what an airport is and how to run it while gaining significant social and economic benefits. His previous CEO’s engagements figure out the airports of Melilla and Seville. During his term of management Seville Airport gained visibility and professional recognition in the industry by taking two different prizes in consecutive years – Best Regional Airport in Europe and Best Regional Airport in World. He took up his present position at a time of strategically importance to Sofia Airport development project.

Joseph Bou Nader is SOF Connect Chief Strategy Officer – a person with powerful vision backed up with 11-years+ of professional experience in Finance, Transport and Infrastructure investment. His past working experience includes different managerial positions taken within VINCI Airports – the first private airports operator globally, where he led several airport acquisitions – 5 airports in 4 countries on 3 continents.

Actually, Joseph is well renowned for his 7-month term as Deputy CEO of Sofia Airport /Apr. – Oct.,2021/. His current duties include leading cross-functional projects, developing the business strategy, building and implementation of value creation plan along with supporting and advising the CEO in his daily strategic and structuring decisions.

The present Deputy CEO of Sofia Airport is Emil Stefanov, who recently assumed the position from Joseph Bou Nader. Emil is a man with vision and broad scope of professional interests and competences spanning over 25 years’ experience on top management positions at leading international retail and FMCG brands, including those ones delivering retail market insights and analysis services. He feels at ease with delivering strategic planning, high-scope business development while generating considerable revenues. His professional inspiration is on building highly efficient and motivated teams.

Iliya Kardashliev as a Chief Financial Officer of Sofia Airport and Member of the Management Board of SOF Connect AD, is a successful finance professional and CFA holder with 15 years of combined experience in internationally renowned companies for tax, audit and financial advisory services, including his previous working experience in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. His international experience in finance coupled with his excellent analytical and organizational abilities and goal-oriented attitude are credit to every company and any work team.

SOF Connect, which comprises the global investor and asset manager specializing in public and community infrastructure Meridiam would not be a real international company without expertise of Munich Airport as an airport operator of one and only 5-star European airport.

Herewith we proudly present the key persons who bring the German know-how into Bulgarian aviation soil.

First, Dr. Henning Pfisterer – COO of Sofia Airport and Member of the Management Board of SOF Connect AD, is a senior executive manager in airport operations with more than 25 years of international experience in major complex hub operations serving in management roles in two of the most prestigious hub airports in the world and assuming consultative roles in multiple other airports in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

His valuable contribution to SOF Connect could be hardly measured, but Henning area of professional competences and responsibilities scopes from airfield and apron management, safety and compliance management through emergency planning and crisis management to leadership and people management in multicultural environments.

Another valuable MUC-contribution to SOF Connect leaders’ team is Christian Stoschek at his position of Chief Transformation Officer and Executive Director Ground Handling. He is a distinguished binding element between already started business development process of Sofia Airport and people as the main asset of the company.

Christian proven track of records includes being a successful business leader in aviation and airport business, driving sustainable growth and change. He has a proven track record in air navigation service, airline and airport operation, airport security, ground handling, process and project management, leadership and management in different C level positions. As member of the Munich Airport management board he managed successfully the 5-Star Program and certification of Munich Airport.

Thirdly, Marcus Spahn as Chief Commercial Officer of SOF Connect is another crucial from business perspective appointment. Having a track record of implementing large scale commercial programs and substantially increasing airport revenues in massive commercial transformations, he has gained a reputation of improving both airport income and passenger satisfaction.

Line of successful MUC-employees ends with Michail Senis – SOF Connect Digital Transformation Director. Being a Greek nationality, but Munich Airport appointment, Michail is    highly competent, dedicated, result driven and enthusiastic professional with 23 years of corporate experience in delivering multimillion international state-of-the-art technological programs positively impacting all company’s operational aspects. At present he is entrusted with the Digital Transformation of Sofia Airport in line with the development project of the capital airport as one of the main international gates to the country.

There are a lot of challenges covering all of the scope of airport operational reality, which are to be faced with confidence from SOF Connect management team. The names and proven SOF Connect professionals are surely to overcome all of them bringing out societal and economic positives with a nod of approval to the whole aviation society.
