Bulgarian staff being trained in Munich
A dedicated team will coordinate all activities at Sofia airport terminals in the name of passenger comfort. The new unit is headed by Andras Abel, a manager with many years of experience in airport terminals and security as well as facilities management. András joins the Sofia team directly from Munich Airport International, who are a partner in the Sofia airport project. The team will apply the experience of Munich Airport, where employees coordinate all activities on airport grounds – from monitoring queues, to the interaction of different services, to providing information to passengers – all in the name of a better passenger experience. This model has many advantages, says Sofia Airport, because it helps different services and units to coordinate their activities, preventing difficulties for passengers.
The new structure will coordinate all terminal activities – cleanliness, temperature, access to information, interaction with border, customs and other authorities, security checks and all aspects that have a bearing on the passenger experience. The team will also be responsible for the spaces in front of the terminals, the capital’s airport added.
Eight SOF Connect employees will be trained at Munich Airport’s Training Academy next month. They will study the processes and organisation of work at Bavaria’s largest airport, with a focus on so-called terminal management. Upon their return, the Bulgarian team will apply what they have learned at the airport in Sofia, taking best practices from Munich.
“Coordination is key to making our passengers’ stay enjoyable. It means including all stakeholders in the process which might affect passengers, starting from their parking at the airport and reaching further to their boarding, all secured in safe and friendly environment. And when it comes to passengers’ satisfaction, the only way to impress them is to go far and beyond their original expectations which is at the heart of our ambition to become a 5-star regional airport in the next 5 years”, András Abel, Director Terminals at Sofia Airport commented.
